Gist Earth

Summary

Gist Earth is a sequential colormap from matplotlib. Lightness rises monotonically from 0.00 to 0.98, hue sweeps 360° from blue to yellow, and order holds under all three colorblind simulations.

Yorick legacy DEM ramp.

Perceptual profile (OKLCh)

• Lightness: 0.000 → 0.985 (range 0.985, min 0.000, max 0.985); monotonic; midpoint 0.701
• Chroma: min 0.000, max 0.154, mean 0.111
• Hue: 0.0° → 0.0° (span 360.0°), path folded; quadrants: blue, azure, cyan, mint, green, chartreuse, yellow
• Endpoint temperature: null → null
• Perceptual ΔE: total 185.0, mean/step 0.725, max step 5.517, smoothness 0.037, speed 0.725

Colorblind safety (ΔE under simulated CVD)

• Protanopia: ΔE total 147.7; preserves order: yes
• Deuteranopia: ΔE total 148.2; preserves order: yes
• Tritanopia: ΔE total 145.2; preserves order: yes
